Sensei Pierson received Instructor Certification in the Shindokan Curricula of Karate and Jujutsu from Kyoshi Robert M. Rivers in 2012 while acting as the Program Director for the Academy of Kempo-Karate Shin Dojo.
This Jujutsu Curriculum contains the essence and principles of Hakko Ryu Jujutsu, Toraken Ryu Kempojutsu, and Judo.
Sensei Pierson has elaborated on this curriculum with his study of Enshin Karate's Sabaki Method in order to teach a more holistic method of training.
Japanese Jujutsu is a fairly generalized term, much like Karate, to described a plethora of methods, practices, schools, and styles. This makes definitions explicitly difficult.
At Vintage Martial Arts, our style of Jujutsu is a blended design from various Ryuha such as Daito Ryu, Hakko Ryu, Kempo, and Sabaki.
One of the best ways to safely test your techniques is through Randori. Allowing an attacker to simulate an unchoreographed attack allows you to test your response, reaction, and favored techniques, with minimal risk of injury.
